Shaq's Big Challenge: Episode One

Follow Shaquille O'Neal, one of the greatest basketball players of all time, as he takes on one of the biggest challenge facing America today: childhood obesity.

In the premiere episode, Shaq meets six middle-school children struggling with weight problems and takes them under his wing. His goal is nothing less than saving their lives!

At first the kids (Ariel, Chris, James, Kevin, Kit, and Walter) are awed when Shaq's towering figure arrives at their doors. Soon Shaq's ability to relate to kids helps them relax. The kids speak candidly about their painful experiences as overweight children and teens, often with tears glistening in their eyes, as Shaq conveys his concern and empathy — and makes a vow that he's going to help them.

Shaq brings the kids to Miami Children's Hospital for an extensive physical exam, which reveals frightening results for all of them. They're not just overweight — they've developed real risks to their health. This motivates the kids — and each of their parents — to commit to the important changes in their lives that Shaq urges them to make. But will they?

Shaq and his personal physician and trainer Doc Colker set the kids up with all the gym equipment they'll need to get in shape, along with a personalized training plan. Nutritionist Joy Bauer visits their homes to revamp their meals and snacks — especially their fast-food intake. Shaq also lays down the law when it comes to video games and TV — especially for Walter, a video-game fanatic who plays more than five hours a day.

Will Shaq and his handpicked team of experts be pleased with the kids' progress — or disappointed? Tune in and find out!
